Library

The College Library was established in 1963 with a small collection of books in a classroom. Today, it occupies a spacious 2,242 sq. ft. area on the second floor and can accommodate over 100 readers at a time. The library is partially automated using SOUL Library Software and offers a rich collection of textbooks, reference books, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, religious books, and storybooks. It also subscribes to journals, magazines, periodicals, and newspapers to support the academic needs of students, teachers, and staff. The library remains open on all working days, Monday to Saturday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COLLEGE LIBRARY –

  • Develop and promote reading habits among students.
  • Provide textbooks and reference books to deserving and needy students.
  • Support students preparing for competitive examinations by providing relevant study materials.
  • Offer efficient library services, including the lending of books, journals, and periodicals.

LIBRARY FACILITIES –

Library Facilities and Services
  • Separate reading rooms for students and staff with seating capacity for over 100 readers.
  • Reading room open on all working days from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Books arranged subject-wise for easy access and retrieval.
  • Book lending service: Each student may borrow one book for one week using a valid library card.
  • Book Bank Scheme for eligible students.
  • Periodicals and journal reading facility.
  • Newspaper reading service, with current newspapers available in the reading room and back issues provided on request.

Librarian

Mrs. Victoria D’Souza has been serving as the Librarian at Shri Chinai College of Commerce & Economics, Andheri, since 2012. She holds a Master of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) degree and has qualified the State Eligibility Test (SET) in Library and Information Science conducted by the Government of Maharashtra. She is currently working as the College Librarian at Shri Chinai College of Commerce & Economics, which is affiliated with the University of Mumbai.
